All Around the Town by Mary Higgins Clark

The book is written well as far as MHC's deatails, maybe a bit too good. Yet the subject matter is very distrubing and the ending is preposterous. The main character Laurie, would need many years of agressive therapy, and most likely hospitalization. MHC's, ending of Lauries Super quick recovery is absurd. The two villains are just down right evil, and there is no real conclusion as to what happened to the disgusting opal.
