Amazon.com Sherlock Holmes (Jeremy Brett) is approached by an American senator (Daniel Massey) to clear the name of a governess (Catherine Russell) in his employ, the lady having been accused of murdering the senator's wife (Celia Gregory) on his estate and leaving her body on Thor Bridge. Holmes and Watson (Edward Hardwicke) take their clues from a few markings on the bridge itself; the solution is among the most complex and satisfying of the Great Detective's career. An excellent episode from the Granada Television series, with Brett in fine form and acting opposite his one-time, real-life brother-in-law, Massey. --Tom Keogh
