Excellent, October 3, 2002 Reviewer: J R Zullo from S“o Paulo, Brazil This story is dark from the beggining. A traveler and his companion are caught in the road in the middle of the night. Seeing an abandoned building, they decide to pass the night in it. The traveler finds a room full of portraits, but one specially attracts his attention, because the woman in the portrait seems almost alive! The traveler's horror increases as he discovers the truth behind the painting story. This is one of Poe's shortest stories, but it is also one of the greatest. Grade 9.1/10
